Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree from the department of English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). The following year, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1981 began reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was an expert panelist on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable news stories throughout time, including fiscal reform, the budget and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. She travelled frequently with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
