Swallow started her Broadway career by performing in several productions, such as High Fidelity at the Guthrie Theater and King Lear for Shakespeare in the Park. Additionally, she was in Much Ado About Nothing for Shakespeare in the Park and the World Premiere of Off-Broadway productions Romantic Poetry, Measure for Pleasure. Her film debut came in 2008, with the war film The Lucky Ones.
